The Karen Choir is a community choir of over twenty members, based in Hobart, Tasmania. Members range from sixteen to sixty, creating the most beautiful sense of community with older generations passing traditional Karen songs and skills down to younger generations.

The Karen people are a culturally and linguistically diverse ethnic group living in South-East Asia, principally in Burma (Myanmar) and Thailand.

Most of the choir members resettled in Hobart as refugees after escaping the civil war in Burma. Their A Capella performances are presented in traditional dress and showcase the beautiful folk music of the Karen people, with simple melodies and storytelling reflecting life in their home country. The choir is passionate about sharing their culture with the wider Tasmanian community and many of their traditional songs have a focus on Karen traditions and praising God. Request performer
